Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award

My second nomination

A few weeks back Dr Namrata, PhD of PenofHearts.com nominated me for the Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award. She had been nominated and veered a bit of the traditional path of nominations by asking for anyone interested in the award to comment on her post. I’ve found these award posts to be a bit like chain letters I used to get as a young girl, but also a great way to learn more about the blogger community, so I commented and hoped to post immediately, but quarantine life pulls us in many directions, so here I finally am, with my award questions, and nominating a few blogs that I’ve been reading lately and finding inspiration.

Dr. Namrata’s blog, PenofHearts carries the tagline, Live Learn Grow, and isn’t that how we all are with life, if we’re wise… or even some days when we’re not. I think that’s the whole purpose. To be aware and take each day, whether rainy, sad, sunny, ordinary or extraordinary, and find something in it that teaches us. In the various blog posts, Dr. Namrata posits a piece of writing, it may be a quote, it may be a thought, it may be a poem. And then she expands on it, basically working into it from the outside, to find the kernel of knowledge held within. I always find her posts interesting and thought provoking, sometimes in a subtle way, and sometimes much more direct. If you’re looking for a new blog to visit, give this one some consideration. I’d like to thank Dr. Namrata for opening up her nominations and I hope my answers to her questions provide everyone with thoughts in the spirit of PenofHearts.

Rules For This Award:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you with a link to their blog.
  2. Make a post of the award (with a photo of the logo).
  3. Post the rules.
  4. Answer the questions asked.
  5. Ask 5-10 new questions for your nominees to answer (or you can include the same questions).
  6. Nominate 10-30 other bloggers (or more) and notify them.

Questions and Answers:-

1) Describe your writing style.
Most of my writing is stream of consciousness, however it’s pretty clear in doing that, that my mind wanders everywhere, and requires it’s own internal editor!~

2) Do you plan your blogs or is it more so have free style?
I keep a little app on my phone that allows me to jot down blog ideas, inspirations, and memories. Even if an idea comes to me in the shower, I step out quickly and jot down the brief idea. Otherwise it wanders away quickly.

3) What is it that you enjoy most about being a blogger?
This has been a huge release for me, and a creative outlet during the coronavirus quarantine, which so far has been going on almost four months now. I’m used to talking to a lot of people, and sharing ideas and recommendations. Without the ability to interact with people it has provided that same stage.

4) What is the best piece of advice you have ever received from someone?
As difficult as it may be, try to find a lesson in any situation and look for the next chapter. There are no wrong decisions, only the chance to make another choice. I do strive to live by this, however I’ve also learned that some people want to steep in their unhappiness or dissatisfaction, and it’s there right to choose that as well.

5) Do you see yourself blogging in 5 years?
Absolutely. I had a blog 10 years ago, 52b452.blogspot.com and having started this one, I went back and visited and found more inspiration. Being able to look back on your thoughts and perspectives from the past is a very helpful and fun opportunity.

6) What been the highlight of this year?
Oy! Highlights have been few and far between if you only scratch the surface, but for me, being able to connect on a different level with people has been a highlight. Also being able to work from home every day was a great opportunity to “test drive” retirement. I have a feeling, as I have these past four months, I’ll continue to be busy, but will look to build more opportunities for myself that can happen when the 9-5 world (which is actually more like 7 – 7 or longer) is no longer my “career.”

7) What do you miss about last year?
Being able to travel freely, visit with friends and use restrooms so trips don’t have to be limited to the amount of time I can wait between bathroom breaks.

8) If you could change one thing what would it be?
One thing, to allow people to appreciate each other for who they are, without worrying about whether they’ve “got theirs” first. I think that appreciation and recognition that everyone brings something to the table, and needs to be recognized for that value, and appreciated would stop a lot of the issues we have.

9) Would you encourage your kids to become bloggers?
I don’t have children, but I would encourage anyone to become a blogger. Even if it’s offline, on a pad of paper. Being able to write your thoughts is a very important first step in being able to acknowledge them.

10) If you could snap your fingers right now and change one thing about the world what would that one thing be?
I would change the sense of belonging to different groups, clubs, countries, etc to one of a worldwide community. Not to take away competition because I believe it promotes advancement, but to take away the inner sense of “survival of the fittest.” Losers and winners should see each other as worthy adversaries, and on any given day any one of us could be in one role or the other without lessening our value.

The New Questions:

I’ve received two awards. My first one I saw as something very exciting, but in reading the many awards that fly through people’s posts, it appears more as a way to get to know people, boost readership, and recommend other blogs. In that spirit I am nominating the following blogs for this award. I recommend them and hope they might want to share some information about themselves. I’m adding my following 10 questions for them:

  1. What was your original goal with your blog?
  2. Do you feel that in today’s world people are open to new ideas? If yes, why? If no, why?
  3. If you could give 1 million dollars to anyone you wanted (just not yourself) who would you give it to, and why?
  4. If you could cure one world problem, what would it be?
  5. What unexpected thing makes you laugh?
  6. In 140 characters or less, explain why someone might want to read your blog.
  7. What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
  8. What’s your favorite thing to do on a day that you have no plans or responsibilites?
  9. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  10. Would the younger you be proud of the you you have become?
