In early January we went back for a third time to Halibut Point. It was a cold but beautiful day and this is definitely a park for year round enjoyment. Plus I’m sharing a memory of a toboggan, a childhood idea for a sled jump, and the unhappy ending to that story!
When we got butternut squash in our Misfits Market Box I wanted to do something different. Then I got inspiration from a recipe for cabbage and mushroom pies. Yes, my brain jumps in random directions, but this time it landed on something delicious!
As our way to celebrate the Inauguration (for some celebration for others a dismal day) we popped the champagne we’d bought for New Year’s and I roasted a turkey with citrus stuffing. This one is definitely a keeper recipe… and maybe be the perfect “summer” turkey if things keep going in the direction they are with the pandemic.
Making a special dessert for Christmas in 2020 brought back so many memories of life in the business world back in the 80s and 90s, and memories of “business lunches” in and around Boston. But I couldn’t not include the recipe that brought these memories back! A simple Berries Pavlova and a sneaky recipe for Strawberries Romanoff if you’re paying attention.
When plans don’t go according to plan, we make the best of it. New hiking boots and an incredible steak and mushroom sauce dinner replaced our trip to Castle Hill last night. It was a good evening after all!
