Writing to escape the pandemic has also meant a blog, cooking, hiking and lots of days spent thinking about my past. Today I submitted a piece about bread to an online magazine. But I’m also sharing stories of my father, bread, and a deliciously satisfying turkey soup recipe. Do you like avgolemono? Well, this is a heartier turkey version. Why not try it?
When we got butternut squash in our Misfits Market Box I wanted to do something different. Then I got inspiration from a recipe for cabbage and mushroom pies. Yes, my brain jumps in random directions, but this time it landed on something delicious!
As our way to celebrate the Inauguration (for some celebration for others a dismal day) we popped the champagne we’d bought for New Year’s and I roasted a turkey with citrus stuffing. This one is definitely a keeper recipe… and maybe be the perfect “summer” turkey if things keep going in the direction they are with the pandemic.
This is a heavy dish but so flavorful. When it’s time for a meal that includes lamb, and not a lot of fuss, this is the one for you! Cooked in my new tagine, but a heavy bottomed casserole would also work.
Making a special dessert for Christmas in 2020 brought back so many memories of life in the business world back in the 80s and 90s, and memories of “business lunches” in and around Boston. But I couldn’t not include the recipe that brought these memories back! A simple Berries Pavlova and a sneaky recipe for Strawberries Romanoff if you’re paying attention.
I grew up on an old farm north of Boston. We had chickens, ducks, and a lot of fun. This post is about some memories of living the rural life in the 60s, but also a great recipe for cider braised pork. Why not give this simple recipe a try?
Looking for a really good veggie burger recipe with so much flavor you don’t even need to add ketchup or mustard? This is it, with some simple swap outs to make it vegan if you want!
Looking for a filling and flavorful winter soup? Why not be brave and try this purple soup, made with purple cabbage, mushrooms, carrots. Thick, creamy and filled with wintery goodness after a long walk outside.
May be one of our last beach walks of the year. And while it wasn’t long, we squeezed every drop of “great” out of it! From gorgous ocean views, to a winery and an amazing Italian bakery/sandwich shop/grocery
There is nothing like a tasty dinner baking in the oven to make everyone realize how important dinner is! Looking for a simple bake that has lots of flexibility? Try this italian sausage and potato bake!
